The UEFA Champions League Finals 2017, Europe's premier club football tournament, were held in Cardiff . Events don’t get much bigger than this; with a worldwide television audience of hundreds of millions and record breaking visitor numbers to the city
The Genesis team were on hand to design, produce and install a variety of products for City Centre streets and Champions Festival
Over 500 lamp post columns were branded with banners. Discussions with UEFA led to each post being assigned an individual sponsor (Nissan, PS4, Heineken, Walkers, Unicredit, Gazprom, Mastercard & Adidas) ensuring the correct level of exposure across the city. Additionally, a 15m diameter banner was installed on the Alliance ring, fabric flags (in High Street and on the Hayes) and both infrastructure and banners on Lloyd George Avenue, leading to the Champions Festival.
276m of banners for the “floating football pitch” perimeter boards, six 6.2m high “info towers”, the main stage graphics and adjacent speaker towers, thirty mobile flags, 200m of branded railings scrim, 60m of boardwalk scrim including the production and installation of a handrail along the waterfront, 400m of heras fence scrim, the “giant trophy” base graphics are just some examples as to the scale and scope of work undertaken by Genesis.
TV & Digital showroom
Working directly with UEFA we branded the external facade and internal walls of the TV & Digital showroom. Multiple pull-ups explaining the ‘Evolution of The Fan’s Home Television Experience’ were also produced
The Football Association of Wales, in conjunction with the UEFA brand team, contracted Genesis to plan and organise wayfinding (directional) signage, to guide the fans from their “drop off” points, to their assigned ‘fan meeting points’, through to specific stadium gates and Champions Festival, culminating in the production and installation of numerous 1m high correx triangular post signs and six 2.4m high info ‘you are here’ towers.
